Study ties stict lunch standars to lower obesity risk in students


           
Stricter school meal standards and healthier options may be the key to reducing childhood obesity, according to a recent study. Some say the findings support the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National School Lunch Program, which set maximum calorie limits and other guidelines for foods served in schools. "I think it's evidence that healthier school lunches have a positive effect but it's preliminary evidence," said Anne Barnhill, who studies food policy at the University of Pennsylvania.
